“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

To say that God values truth is an understatement. Jesus declared that He is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” in John 14:6. God is true and just in all of His ways. There is no imperfection in the Lord, He is truth.
God’s people should certainly live in truth and avoid the lie. The ninth commandment is relational as we should be honest in our dealings with others. Untruthfulness brings harm, sorrow, and pain to our neighbors. Let us have no unwholesome talk come out of our mouths.
It’s also vital that we be honest about and to ourselves. Our heart is deceitful and some times we can lie to ourselves. (Jeremiah 17:9) Let us pray that God will give us the courage to face the truth even when it’s difficult and painful. After all, it’s the truth that sets us free! (John 8:32)
