Jesus Changes Lives

30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. 31 And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. 33 When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

Luke 8:30-32

The Encounter That Changes Everything

The man among the tombs had a life that seemed beyond hope. The community had tried everything. Nothing worked. He had suffered “for a long time.”

The demons recognized Christ immediately. They even tried to intimidate Him by using His full title: “Jesus, Son of the Most High God.” It was like a tiny dog yapping at a grizzly bear—all noise, no threat.

The demons couldn’t stand in His presence. They begged not to be sent into the abyss. Jesus, demonstrating His complete authority, sent them into a herd of pigs that then rushed down a steep bank into the lake and drowned.

When the townspeople came to investigate, they found the formerly demon-possessed man “sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind.”

This is the power of an encounter with Christ. Where there was chaos, there is now peace. Where there was nakedness and shame, there is now dignity. Where there was insanity, there is now soundness of mind.

Bring your mess to Jesus today. He will forgive your sin, redeem your past, and cleanse your unrighteousness. God is able!

Faith In God

1Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. 5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Have Faith In God……

**Faith means believing even though we can’t see or experience it through our senses.  (1)

**Faith is the means of salvation through Jesus Christ. (2) (6)

**Faith gives us courage to obey God (3-5)

**Faith is how we please God (6)

Lord, increase our faith! (Luke 17:5)

New Covenant

11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.” 21 Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. 23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than hese. 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

**A Cleansing Covenant

**An Eternal Covenant

**Through The Cross of Christ

**Dependent On Christ’s Work

**Fully Realized In Heaven

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins. And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains!

The Mosaic Covenant

1 Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary. 2 For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary; 3 and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, 4 which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; 5 and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail. 6 Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. 7 But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance; 8 the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— 10 concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

Hebrews 9:1-10

God’s covenant with Israel is beautiful and glorious. It shows forth God’s covenant dealings with the people He chose for Himself—the nation of Israel. The Law still has much to say to God’s people in our day.

We are no longer under the Covenant of Moses. As believers, we are partakers of the New Covenant given to us through the blood of Christ. Nevertheless, let us give thanks today for God’s Covenant with Israel.  Three aspects of this Covenant are revealed in Hebrews 9.

A Better Covenant

Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being. 3 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. 4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. 5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. 7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickednessand will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

The New Covenant has a………………

**Better Sanctuary (1-2)

The New Covenant has a heavenly Sanctuary and an everlasting Sanctuary,

administered By Christ—our great High Priest. The Covenant of Moses was temporal while the Covenant of Grace is everlasting. The New Covenant is anchored in Heaven through our Savior, Christ our Lord.

**Better Sacrifice (3-4)

The Levitical priests offered animal blood as a covering for the people’s sins. By contrast, Jesus, our High Priest, offered His own blood for the forgiveness of sins. While the Levitical priests offered sacrifices repeatedly, Jesus offered Himself once for all.

**It Has A Better Security (5-13)

The Mosaic Covenant was ruined by Israel’s sin, written on stone, and impossible to keep. The Covenant of Jesus teaches us that Jesus paid for sin while the New covenant is written on human heart. The Covenant of Grace is based on the obedience of Christ and not the obedience of sinners.

Heaven

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 15:1-6

Let us consider a few thoughts about Heaven.

**Heaven is place. Jesus is preparing a destination for believers. We don’t know where it is and we can’t describe it in our limited human understanding. However, it is a real, actual place.

**Jesus is in Heaven. Jesus is preparing a place where we can be together with Him forever. It is indeed a wonderful thought to consider—forever with Jesus!

**Heaven is for believers and is appropriated through believing in Jesus by faith. Belief in Jesus Christ is the key to heaven. He is the way. He is the only way. He is the perfect way.

With these thoughts in mind, I end with a question. Where will you spend eternity?

Great High Priest

15 And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16 one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is declared: “You are a priest forever,  n the order of Melchizedek.”  18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God. 20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, 21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn     and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’” 22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant. 23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. 26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Jesus is our Great High Priest. Since this is true, He has a different priesthood. It is…….

**An Everlasting Priesthood (16-17)

**A Guaranteed Priesthood (20-22)

**A Permanent Priesthood (23-24)

**A Holy Priesthood

Jesus is our High Priest who makes intercession for us and cares for all who believe on His name. Jesus paid it all and all to Him we owe. He is our priest forever forevermore.

The Shallow Heart

11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

Luke 8:11-15

When the gospel seed is sown it falls on different types of hearts. Today, let us take a brief overview of the shall heart. This condition is described in Luke 8:13

The Shallow Heart (Rocky Soil)

Other seeds fell on rocky ground with little soil. They sprang up quickly but withered just as fast due to lack of moisture and depth. This represents those who initially receive the message with joy but have no deep roots. When trials and temptations come, their faith falters and fades away.

We’ve all seen people who appear to embrace faith with great enthusiasm, only to drift away when life gets challenging. Their initial zeal isn’t enough to sustain them through difficult seasons. This reminds us of the importance of cultivating depth in our spiritual lives, not just surface-level excitement.

May we pray for those whose faith has faded. Our hope is for the glory of the gospel to shine through so that those with shallow hearts would be saved. Lord, grant our request.

Our Great High Priest

1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can [a]have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness. 3 Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins. 4 And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.” 6 As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek”; 7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing

Hebrews 5:1-11

Jesus Represents the Believer to the Father. We are told by the writer of Hebrews that Christ is our Great High Priest. He is our eternal Priest and Mediator before God. Consider these points about Jesus and His Priestly ministry today:

**Christ is Called God’s Son (5)

**Christ is Given An Everlasting Priesthood (6)

**Christ is a Priest After Melchizedek (6, 9-10)

**Christ Cried Out To God In The Garden (7-8)

Let us bring all of our cares and concerns to our great High Priest, Jesus Christ!

Rest

 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:12-16

What steps can we take to consistently experience Christ’s rest? What avenues exist for Christians that enable us to live in peace and contentment through the Savior? The final verses of Hebrews 4 give us three ways to live in peace and rest in Christ in this life.

**Be faithful in your study of the Word of God (12-13)

**Pray and seek the Lord Jesus, you High Priest who understands and knows you (14)

**Continue to serve Christ and approach His throne boldly for His mercy and help (14-16)
