Our Great High Priest

1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can [a]have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness. Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins. And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.” As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek”; who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing

Hebrews 5:1-11

Jesus Represents the Believer to the Father. We are told by the writer of Hebrews that Christ is our Great High Priest. He is our eternal Priest and Mediator before God. Consider these points about Jesus and His Priestly ministry today:

**Christ is Called God’s Son (5)

**Christ is Given An Everlasting Priesthood (6)

**Christ is a Priest After Melchizedek (6, 9-10)

**Christ Cried Out To God In The Garden (7-8)

Let us bring all of our cares and concerns to our great High Priest, Jesus Christ!

Why Follow Jesus?

Why should we seek to live for Christ? Why do we need to seek holiness? What are the results of living for Christ? There are many! Here are three for today.

*We should live for Christ because of what Christ has done for us. He has given us His Spirit and bought us out of the bondage of sin.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God , and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

*We should learn His Word and live His Word so that we can know His will. As our minds are transformed by seeking Christ through His Word, the Church, and His Spirit, we learn to discern God’s will about life situations.

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world , but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

*Finally, we should strive to live as Jesus lives because He has forgiven us. Our sins have been forgiven through His death on the cross. A life of holiness will be reflected in the ability to forgive. We forgive because the Lord forgave us.

Colossians 3:12-13  So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience ; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

I pray that you will be exhorted to right living this week!

Striving to Follow Jesus

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Hebrews 3:1-6

Three Lessons from Hebrews 3

 **Jesus Is Greater Than All

Greater Than Moses, Prophets, Priests, Kings

**Fix Your Eyes Upon Jesus

**Realize That Jesus Is Your Only Hope For Salvation, Sanctification, and Security

Trust in Christ. Believe His Word. Be blessed as you follow Jesus!

Enduring

I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.

Psalm 119:48

The Enduring Nature of God’s Word

In a world where trends come and go, and human philosophies rise and fall, the Word of God stands firm. As Isaiah 40:8 declares, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” No matter how much opposition it faces, the Bible remains unshakeable and continues to change lives across generations.

The Bible is far more than a religious text – it’s a living, active force that God uses to purify, persuade, prepare, and protect us. It’s our roadmap for life, our source of strength, and our connection to the heart of God. As we make Scripture a central part of our daily lives, we open ourselves up to its transformative power.

So, let’s embrace the challenge to not just read the Bible, but to let it read us. Let’s allow its truths to penetrate our hearts, shape our thoughts, and guide our actions. For in doing so, we’ll find ourselves growing ever closer to the God who speaks to us through its pages, becoming more and more the people He created us to be.

May we echo the psalmist’s heartfelt cry: “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day” (Psalm 119:97). Let’s make God’s Word our daily bread, our constant companion, and the foundation of our lives. In its pages, we’ll find wisdom for every situation, comfort for every sorrow, and inspiration for every day. The transformative journey awaits – will you take up the challenge and dive deep into the life-changing power of God’s Word?
