Because He Lives

The resurrection of Jesus Christ brings hope. The promises of God’s Word rest on a steadfast assurance that results from Christ’s resurrection. When Jesus rose from the dead, every word of His teaching was verified and His ability to keep his promises was proved. The resurrection was truly the singular event that changed everything.

Many souls are searching for hope in our day. People are searching for a sense of hope in human relationships, finances, technology, and even religion. And, every day these so-called sources of hope promise much and deliver little. That’s not to say that these things are evil or unnecessary. They simply are incapable of fulfilling the longing of the human heart. Only Jesus can satiate that longing for hope, peace, and joy that we so desperately need.

Because Jesus is alive, we can trust His Word. Because Jesus is alive, we can believe his promises. Because Jesus is alive, we can know our ultimate destination. Because Jesus is alive, we know He will be with us no matter what may arrive at our doorstep. As we examine the risen Savior, we can see more and more clearly that the empty tomb changed everything!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, All Fear is gone.

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because He lives.”[1]

Sustained

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name. Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us, according as we have hoped in You.

Psalm 33:18-22

Thoughts about Psalm 33……………………………

God is our help. He is our sustainer, provider, and shield. Even when things go wrong, he guards, guides, and protects. We need “God our help” each day. Cling to Him and serve Him dear Christian.

God is holy. We can trust in His holy name always. I don’t know what battles you are facing this week. I do know that you can trust in God’s holy name. We should trust and rejoice because we know who is in control.

God is loving. His lovingkindness endures to His people. Paul tells that even when we are faithless, God is faithful. (2 Timothy 2:13) We can rest in Christ, put our hope in Christ, and serve all of our days because of His faithful lovingkindness.

It is so true. When Christ is all you have, you truly understand He is all you need!

Blessings upon you all.

Count For Something

The New Year lies before us. The pages of the calendar are teeming with possibility and hope. We want to make a difference. We desire to see our lives count for something. How can we do that? How do we insure that we do not waste this year? Let’s examine these questions.

Purpose

To make the most of the time God has given us, first, define your purpose. What are you called and equipped to do? The Scriptures reveal that we all have spiritual gifts and proclivities. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11) Find that purpose and begin to fulfill it. It may take some time and exploration. But it is well worth the cost when one’s purpose can be clearly defined.

Priority

Once your purpose is secure begin to prioritize your time around those things that fulfill your purpose. Try to limit distractions as much as possible. Keep your eye on the prize and don’t give up.

Our lives are busy and we all have to make a living, pay bills, and put food on the table. While those things matter, we are created for so much more.  We are created, saved, and sanctified to worship God, love Him, and serve others. Make serving Christ the priority all year long. May the Lord help us to “redeem the time” that He has given. (Ephesians 5:16)

Patience

Finally, be patient in the process. Making a difference in someone’s life takes time. We will not be able to accomplish all we want to do as quickly as we hope. Be patient and stay the course. There will be times of failure and sin. When that happens, confess it to the Lord, receive forgiveness, and move one.

Paul teaches us to “not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” (Galatians 6:9) Persevere and God will use your efforts for His glory.

Understanding purpose, priority, and patience will help us to move forward in Christian maturity. We only have one life to live and that life is passing quickly. May God help us to make the most of our time. It’s our most valuable commodity!
